Return of key Ahly players boost squad ahead of ASEC game
Published in Ahram Online on 15 - 08 - 2016

Ahly's squad will be boosted by the return of winger Bassem Ali and attacking midfielder Walid Soliman -- two of the side's key players -- who were sidelined due to injuries in previous crucial games.
Another one of the side's key players, defender Ahmed Hegazy, will need a further ten days to recover before returning to the squad.
The Cairo giants are set to face ASEC on Wednesday in the final round of the CAF Champions League group stage.
Right back Bassem Ali is now officially ready to participate in the next game after recovering from a back muscle injury, Ahly's doctor Khaled Mahmoud announced on Monday.
The 27-year-old winger missed Ahly's 2-2 draw with Zambia's ZESCO in the CAF Champions League last week with a muscle injury he sustained during the Zamalek game.
"Walid Soliman participated in some training before the ZESCO match and he can play the next match with the approval of the technical staff," Mahmoud confirmed.
"He recovered from his injury that prevented him from playing the ZESCO match and will participate in Tuesday's ordinary training with preparations for the ASEC game," Mahmoud added.
Meanwhile, defender Ahmed Hegazy, who missed the Zamalek and ZESCO games due to injury, will be back to trainings in 10 days, according the team's doctor.
"Medical scans have showed that Hegazy didn't recover from a muscle injury that sidelined him in previous games," Mahmoud said.
"He will continue missing trainings since he needs another ten days to recover and return as he must continue his rehab programme that includes some training in gym plus swimming."
Ahly's coach Martin Jol apologised to the team's fans for the latest setbacks, saying the players' injury list was a reason for the loss.
