Mohamed Abou-Treika has failed to recover from injury in time to participate in Ahly's CAF Champions League game at home to Zambia's ZESCO United on Sunday. The veteran playmaker missed Tuesday's Egyptian Premier League win over Gouna after picking up a calf injury. Algerian promising playmaker Amir Sayoud deputized for him against Gouna but will not be able to take his place against ZESCO in the second-leg of the Champions League round of 16 because he was not registered in Ahly's African squad. “The technical staff do not want to rush Abou-Treika back into action. Medical scans showed that he still faces up to 15 days on the sidelines before returning to training,” Ahly said in a statement on their official website on Friday. Ahly, who played out a goalless draw at ZESCO in the first leg, are eyeing a place in the Champions League group stage as they seek to win a record-extending seventh continental title.
