Egypt's El-Hadary praises El-Shennawy, threatens to leave El-Merreikh Pharaohs' legend salutes rising star after impressive performance against Niger and claims hasn't received salary for 10 months
Egypt goalkeeper Essam El-Hadary has expressed admiration for the performance of Olympic team shot stopper Ahmed El-Shennawy during Egypt's 3-0 victory over Niger in the 2012 African Cup of Nations qualifier on Saturday. “El-Shennawy will be my successor in the Pharaohs' squad,” El-Hadary told a TV programme after the match. “I hope he can continue his brilliant performances. I ask the Masry management to ease the way for him to play in Europe,” he added. The Pharaohs keeper also hinted he could leave Sudanese side El-Merreikh if they continue to ignore his demands. “I am considering leaving El-Merreikh as I haven't received my salary for ten months.” El-Hadary has endured constant problems since leaving Egyptian champions Ahly in an acrimonious manner in 2008. He has had disputes with Egyptian clubs Ismaily and Zamalek. However, El-Hadary remains Egypt's undisputed number one keeper. He is widely regarded as the best keeper in the country's history. The former Sion man played a key role in helping Egypt win three consecutive African Cup of Nations titles in 2006, 2008 and 2010. http://english.ahram.org.eg/News/23691.aspx
