Nigeria coach calls for massive fan support against Guinea Siasia urges Nigerians to turn out en masse for Super Eagles' showdown with Guinea in Saturday's African Cup qualifier
Nigeria coach Samson Siasia has called on his fellow Nigerians to flood Abuja's National Stadium on Saturday when the Super Eagles host Guinea for a decisive African Cup of Nations qualifier. “We want our people to come and create a good atmosphere at the stadium: singing, dancing, the whole works. We want to see a sea of green and white, with everyone cheering every move by the Super Eagles,” Siasia was quoted as saying by KickOff magazine. “Support is always key in games of this nature,” he added. “We believe that Nigerians from all over the country will come to the stadium and cheer the Super Eagles to victory.” Nigeria, who are currently second in Group B with ten points - three points behind leaders Guinea - are in a must-win situation to secure qualification for next year's Nations Cup finals in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea. Nigeria last missed out on a place in the Nations Cup in 1986 when they lost 1-0 to Zambia on aggregate.
