Chinese side Tianjin Teda are interested in signing Ahly's Gabonese striker Malick Evouna for $7 million, Egyptian reports said on Tuesday. Local media quoted an unnamed Ahly source as saying that the club might ask Teda for $10 million, which would be a much higher fee than the $2.5 million they paid to sign him last summer from Morocco's Wydad Casablanca. The transfer was the most expensive in Egyptian football history and although Evouna, who usually partners Dortmund's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in Gabon's attack, made a slow start, he then proved his worth with some convincing displays. He scored 12 goals, four short than Egyptian league top scorer Hossam Paolo of Smouha, and created four others in 24 appearances to help Ahly wrestle the title from Cairo rivals Zamalek. Evouna, 23, was at times criticised for his prolificacy but his blistering pace and physical attributes made him a constant menace to opponents. The league goals he scored included a remarkable one against Zamalek in the Cairo derby last February when he ran half the length of the pitch, bamboozled three defenders and placed a shot into the bottom corner.
