Egypt's Ahly impose 'heavy fine' on Gabon striker Evouna
Published in Ahram Online on 02 - 04 - 2016

Egypt's Ahly said on Saturday they would hand Malick Evouna a "heavy fine" after he failed to join up with the team in time ahead of an Egyptian Premier League game on Sunday.
The league leaders did not disclose the amount of fine they would impose on the Gabon striker but he will now not be available when they play Ittihad El-Shorta in their first match after a long break.
"Evouna did not arrive in Cairo as scheduled and there is a heavy fine awaiting him," Ahly's football director Sayed Abdel-Hafiz said on the club's official website.
The 23-year-old was on target when Gabon defeated Sierra Leone 2-1 in a friendly game on 25 March. He was also part of the side which lost to the same opponent 1-0 three days later.
Gabon, hosts of next year's African Cup of Nations, take part in the qualifiers but their results do not count.
"Evouna was due to arrive in Cairo on Friday and participate in the team's training session on Saturday but he did not show up," Abdel-Hafiz added.
The former Wydad Casablanca man joined Ahly in the summer to much hype, with the Red Devils marking the most expensive transfer in the history of Egyptian football after reportedly paying $2.5 million to acquire his services.
However, he has yet to live up to expectations despite netting seven goals in 15 league appearances, with many Ahly fans saying they had expected more from the marquee signing.
