Egypt coach Ramzy satisfied with Olympic qualifiers draw Egypt's Olympic team coach Hany Ramzy says he is satisfied with the outcome of the draw for the eight-team African qualifying tournament
Egypt coach Hany Ramzy said he is confident the national Olympic team can reach next year's London Games after Saturday's draw paired them with Ivory Coast, South Africa and Gabon. “It's a balanced group to a large extent,” said former Egypt defender Ramzy, who is aiming to lead the team to a place in the Olympic Games for the first time since 1992. “We will begin work immediately to study our opponents in the group. “I'm optimistic that we can fulfill our objective and qualify for the Olympic Games. I trust the abilities of the player to live up to expectations and atone for the recent failures of Egypt's senior team and the Egyptian clubs who were eliminated from African competitions.” Egypt will host the tournament that will run from 26 November to 10 December. The winners will qualify directly for the London Games. The runners up in the two groups will face each other for another place in the Olympics. The losing team will still have a chance to qualify as they will face an Asian representative in a two-legged tie.
