Egypt and Zamalek midfielder Omar Gaber appreciated the huge number of fans who attended his home ahead of his departure from Cairo to Switzerland to join Basel. Last week Zamalek agreed with FC Basel to allow Omar Basel to move to the Swiss side. The 23-year-old midfielder revealed that he informed the Swiss side's management that he can speak English fluently to allay fears that he wouldn't be able to communicate with the coach and his teammates. "I am not worried about the cultural difference between Egypt and Europe," Gaber told reporters at Cairo airport ahead of his flight to Switzerland. "Moreover, I don't suffer from a language barrier as I spoke to Basel officials in English to alleviate their fears," he added. Gaber flew on Monday morning to Switzerland to undergo a medical with Basel before joining the team. ## A huge number of Zamalek fans attended the player's home, who is a popular key player in Zamalek's squad, to say goodbye to their favorite star. He is a three-time Egypt Cup winner, and a one-time Egyptian Premier League holder with the club. Gaber, a versatile midfielder who also plays as a right-back, has been a key player in the Egyptian national team since 2011. He is not the first Egyptian player to join Basel after winger Mohamed Salah and midfielder Mohamed Elneny were part of the Swiss side's squad. Salah is currently playing for AS Roma while Elneny is playing for English Premier League topflight side Arsenal. ## ## (For more sportsnews andupdates, followAhramOnlineSportson Twitter at@AO_Sportsand onFacebookatAhramOnlineSports.) http://english.ahram.org.eg/News/210396.aspx
