Truck drivers end blockage of major Egyptian railway
Hundreds of lorry drivers staged a sit-in that for hours blocked the Cairo-Assiut highway, as well as the rail route connecting the capital with Upper Egypt

The Cairo-Assiut highway as well as the rail route connecting Cairo with Upper Egypt were blocked for several hours overnight as a result of a sit-in by hundreds of truck drivers
In Badrashin, Giza, along the railway route, hundreds of truck drivers staged the sit-in after some individuals built commercial shops on a piece of state-owned land where the drivers used to park their vehicles.‎
The protesting drivers called on authorities to order the immediate removal of the newly built shops.
Representatives of the army and police eventually coaxed the drivers into ending their sit-in. The drivers agreed to disperse after it was agreed upon that some of their representatives would meet with the governor today to discuss the situation.
