Hundreds demonstrate in Egypt's governorates of Alexandria, Qalioubiya and Suez demanding the expulsion of the Israeli ambassador and condemning Israel's attack on Egyptian soldiers. Meanwhile, hundreds are still demonstrating outside the Israeli embassy in Cairo, making the same demand. Demonstrations are also expected to march from several mosques in Cairo and more are expected to join the protest at the Israeli embassy after iftar. The demonstrations come in response to Israel's killing of two Egyptian officers and three soldiers and coincide with Al-Quds Day. Following the killings, thousands of Egyptians took to the streets in anger demanding that the Israeli ambassador be expelled. One Egyptian young man climbed 13 floors to bring down the Israeli flag in protest. Hundreds started a sit-in in front of the Israeli embassy on 19 August and dozens are still occupying the sidewalks opposite the embassy.
