13:03 Judge says that sessions will no longer be televised. He postpones now unified case against Mubarak and his former minister of interior till 5 September. Judge Refaat approves several procedural demands for lawyers on both sides.
13:00 Judge approves key request by lawyers of victims as he announces that Mubarak's trial and that of El-Adly will be merged into one case.
12:57 Judge Ahmed Refaat has returned to courtroom. Trial resumes.
12:40 Mubarak and two sons reenter cage awaiting judge's return courtroom.
12:37 Police arrests a pro-Mubarak stone thrower.
12:15 Some pro-Mubarak protesters are leaving scene on buses. Anti-Mubarak demonstrators are seeing them off with rocks.
12:10 Court is still in recess. Outside courtroom, pro and anti-Mubarak protesters have resumed throwing rocks at one another.
11: 25 Outside the court pro-Mubarak protesters are handing out leaflets that read that Mubarak's appearance in court proves that he is a man of "bravery and dignity."Clashes between the pro- and anti-Mubarak protesters have stopped for now. Anti-Mubarak protesters have started chanting against the police: "the ministry of interior are thugs." They charge that police forces have attacked them but have done nothing to curb the violent pro-Mubarak people.
11:08 Judge calls first recess of the day. Mubarak and both of his sons leave the cage and will return when session resumes.
11:05 Lead defence attorney for Mubarak, Farid El-Dib, presented several requests to judge Refaat. He asked for official ambulance reports for the period between 25 and 31 January, copy of videos and pictures of killing protesters, and copies of interrogation records of defendants. Finally, El-Dib asked the court to adjourn in order to allow the defence team enough time to examine evidence.
11:03 Sameh Ashour has also asked Judge Refaat to separate criminal murder charges against Mubarak from corruption charges against him and his 2 sons into 2 separate legal cases.
11:01 Sameh Ashour, one of the lawyers representing the families of the victims has asked the judge to combine the murder cases against Mubarak and former minister of interior El-Adly into one case.
11:00 Clashes between pro and anti Mubarak groups has left five injured, says Adel Eissawy, assistant to the Minister of Health. Clashes which included stone throwing between the two groups have been reported since early today. Similar clashes also took place during the first session of the trial on 3 August.
10:50 Clashes have resumed between pro and anti-Mubarak protesters outside the courtroom. Approximately 200 supporters of the ousted president are throwing rocks at anti-Mubarak demonstrators who are hauling them back.
10:45 The Judge expresses his displeasure at the lawyers for the victims for handing a long list of "more than a hundred lawyer willing to talk". The lawyers said before the trial that they have arranged lists so as to avoid yesterday's mess in which the judge had to stop the session four times reacting to the unorganized performance of the lawyers.
10:43 The session has just got under underway after the arrival of Judge Ahmed Refaat.
10:40Ayman Nour, leader of the Ghad Party who ran for the presidency in 2005 against Mubarak said that the former dictator is breaking the rules by not wearing white.
“Mubarak is not dressed in white even though he is an indicted prisoner, which violates prison law,” Nour, who is also a lawyer, wrote on his twitter.
10:35 The atmosphere outside the court hall is now calm. Earlier in the day, clashes between Mubarak's supporters who oppose the trial and protesters calling for retribution had earlier erupted. The situation remains tense. Police officers are trying to separate the 2 groups. However, more confrontations could break out any minute.
10:30 Mubarak and both of his sons, Alaa and Gamal, have entered the dock. Like the opening session, Mubarak is lying on a hospital stretcher. He is wearing a blue training suit. His sons are standing next to him.‎
10:20 Mubarak has just arrived at the Police Academy on a stretcher to attend the second session of his trial.
10:00 The second court session in the murder trial of ousted Egyptian president starts with chair-throwing and media bashing from pro-Mubarak supporters and some lawyers have been denied entry; the Mubaraks have not yet arrived.
