FIFA presidential candidate Gianni Infantino has taken up an invitation by opponent Tokyo Sexwale to visit South Africa and tour Robben Island, the apartheid-era prison off Cape Town. Infantino and Sexwale were due to visit the island Monday. Sexwale's campaign team said the South African businessman invited all four other candidates but Sheikh Salman, Prince Ali and Jerome Champagne had declined, citing ''tight schedules'' before FIFA's election Friday. UEFA secretary general Infantino and Sheikh Salman of Bahrain have emerged as favorites to succeed Sepp Blatter as head of world soccer in a vote forced by the corruption scandal at FIFA. Sexwale has struggled to gain support and has previously denied he'll withdraw before the election. During apartheid, Sexwale was jailed by the apartheid regime on Robben Island alongside Nelson Mandela.
