Fatah's central committee accuses Dahlan of encroaching on national security Mohamed Dahlan has left the West Bank after his appeal to Fatah courts was turned down
On Thursday, Palestinian movement Fatah's central committee accused former member Mohamed Dahlan of encroaching on Palestine's national and social security. After Fatah's court decision to revoke Dahlan's appeal to remain in the party, the central committee's spokesperson said Dahlan was implicated in manipulating external powers for political bullying and murders along the years. The spokesman also said that Dahlan carried out immoral practices using thugs and a death squad which implicated many prominent figures, political leaders and businessmen in Gaza. Furthermore, he accused the ex-Fatah leader of illicitly accumulating vast amount of wealth by robbing the investment fund for the benefit of a group of “vampires” controlling border crossings, customs, human traffic and trade, and investing the greater part of the gains for his own interests. Dahlan was also accused of conspiring to seize control of the Fatah movement in preparation to “break the national political will.” The spokesman implored the commanding and coordinating bodies in Fatah to support its decision to “purge” the movement. Meanwhile, Dahlan fled the West Bank. Palestinian sources said that Dahlan had left for Jordan through the al-Karama crossing accompanied by a small number of his security entourage. Palestinian security had confiscated weapons and vehicles from Dahlan's house in Ramallah Thursday after arresting 10 of his bodyguards. The move came 24 hours after a decision by the ruling Fatah court to overturn Dahlan's appeal and maintain last month's decision to expel him, ending any official relationship he enjoyed with the movement. Fatah's central committee, headed by president Mahmoud Abbas, had referred Dahlan to the General Prosecutor on charges of financial corruption and murder.
