The trial of ousted president Hosni Mubarak and his two sons, along with Habib El-Adly, former minister of interior, will be held in Cairo on 3 August, according to Minister of Justice Abdel Aziz El-Gendy in a statement to the German press agency DPA yesterday.
El-Gendy revealed that a hall at the Cairo Expo City “CCIC” is being prepared for the trial in order to accommodate the families of the martyrs and the media.
Mubarak, his sons Alaa and Gamal, El-Adly and six of his aides are accused of killing protesters during the January 25 Revolution. Mubarak is accused of giving orders to El-Adly to use live ammunition to quell protests.
Earlier yesterday, Judge Abdel Aziz Omar, head of Cairo's Appeal Court, stated that the location of Mubarak's trial had not been determined.
Judge Mohamed Rafaat, head of the criminal court that will conduct the trial, stated to Dream TV2 that the Egyptian people should calm downand not ask where the Mubarak trial will be. The judge said in his first statements to the media that the Egyptian people should not worry, and that the deposed leader will face a fair trial.
