Egypt's Fawry helps MasterCard launch electronic bill-paying services Cardholders will be able to settle their internet, mobile and fixed line bills and make e-commerce payments at one of 10,000 Fawry payment points across the country
MasterCard Worldwide in Egypt has teamed up with Fawry, the nationwide electronic bill payment network, to allow cardholders to pay bills and top-up mobiles via Fawry's retail network. MasterCard cardholders can now settle their internet, mobile and fixed line bills and make e-commerce payments as well as pay for airline tickets. The Fawry network has 10,000 payment points across Egypt, including electronic and physical outlets. The MasterCard bill pay service will start at Fawry-enable retail outlets such as grocery stores and pharmacies, using point-of-sale terminals. "The collaboration between Fawry and MasterCard provides Egyptian consumers with even more choices of how and where to pay their bills," says Ashraf Sabry, chief executive at Fawry. Magdy Hassan, vice president and country manager for Egypt at MasterCard Worldwide said: "We have addressed the needs of Egyptian consumers, who are always on the move, and require more flexible and secure payment options to make their daily payments. "Acceptance is a critical pillar of the MasterCard payment model and we are committed to expanding points of acceptance for the convenience of local MasterCard cardholders through multiple channels," he added.
