Zamalek indifferent to divine offering by St Etienne Zamalek's president delays transfer talks on Shikabala, heedless of St Etienne's offer, until after the make or break match against league leader's Ahly
Zamalek President Galal Ibrahim claims he's unaware of French side Saint Etienne's negotiations with the team's star Mahmoud Abdel-Razik “Shikabala,” confirming that it's normal for the midfielder to receive offers due to his recognised skill and talent. “The player is engaged with Zamalek till the end of his contract in January as the coaching staff demanded,” Ibrahim said. Saint Etienne have reportedly offered annual benefits which amount to 1.5 million euro to land the player in a free transfer when his contract expires with the Egyptian club. “We prefer to delay all Shikabala's transfer talks till he plays Wednesday's match,” stated the club's president. The Cairo-based club, who are five points behind arch-rivals and league leaders Ahly in the Egyptian Premier League table, are struggling to lift up their first trophy since 2004. They will come up against title holders Ahly Wednesday in a clash that could make or break their league dreams. The Zamalek coaching staff under the helm of Hossam Hassan met with Shikabala on Tuesday, demanding that the midfielder keep his focus and forget about any departures for the time-being. Hassan also asked him not to pay attention to any possible racial chants by rival supporters, emphasising that the team is depending on him. The 26-year old Egypt international player hinted that he would not extend his stay with the club, telling Ahram Online earlier that he is “dreaming of playing abroad again.” Beside French and German clubs, English Premier League sides like Newcastle, Blackburn and Birmingham have reportedly also shown interest in the former Paok (a Greek club) footballer who is in scintillating form this season, scoring 13 goals to top the scorers' chart.
