A sandstorm has hit the town of Kom Ombo in Upper Egypt's Aswan governorate, prompting authorities to evacuate schools, the Ahram Arabic news website reported on Tuesday. Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) spokesman Wahid Seoudi told Ahram Online that the storm is expected to continue through to Wednesday. Temperature predictions for Aswan on Tuesday were a high of 38 degrees Celsius and a low of 23 degrees Celsius. A sandstorm has also hit Egypt's southern governorate of Wadi El-Gedid. Sandstorms in Egypt in February killed seven people in Cairo, North Sinai and the Nile Delta, and injured dozens others. At least two sea ports closed down at the time. http://english.ahram.org.eg/News/124914.aspx
