Ghana's Atsu named best player at African Cup of Nations Ghana winger Christian Atsu won double awards at the African Cup of Nations, including the best player prize, despite his side's loss to the Ivory Coast in Sunday's final.
Atsu's strike against Equatorial Guinea in the semi-final was also chosen by African governing body CAF as the best goal of the tournament. The 23-year-old produced some impressive displays in the Equatorial Guinea finals, scoring twice as Ghana advanced to the final for the second time in five years. Atsu's teammate Andre Ayew was chosen as the highest goalscorer with three goals. Congo's Thievy Bifouma, Equatorial Guinea's Javier Balboa, DR Congo's Dieumerci Mbokani and Tunisia's Ahmed Akaichi also scored three goals.
