Abdel-Shafi joins Egypt's injury list ahead of Senegal, Tunisia qualifiers
Egypt national team has lost key players ahead of CAN 2015 qualifiers due to injuries
Published in Ahram Online on 31 - 10 - 2014

Ahly Jeddah's left-back Mohamed Abdel-Shafi will miss the Egypt national team's crucial games in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Senegal and Tunisia respectively, after sustaining a muscle tear in the Saudi Professionals League on Thursday.
The former Zamalek winger Abdel-Shafi will have to be out of actions for more than two weeks to completely recover from his muscle injury, the Saudi club Ahly announced on Friday.
Abdel-Shafi's injury put the Pharaohs technical staff in a bad condition ahead of CAN 2015 qualifiers as they also will lose the services of Ahly's promising striker Amr Gamal who will undergo a ligament surgery next week.
The 29-years-old Abdel-Shafi was recently named in Egypt's foreign-based players list alongside another 5 players from the European leagues.
Egypt are set to face Senegal on 15 November, four days before playing Senegal in the fifth and sixth qualifying matches.
The Pharaohs, who won three Nations Cups on the trot before failing to reach two successive tournaments in 2012 and 2013, are third in Group G with six points. Tunisia are top with 10 points, three more than second-place Senegal.
