Nigeria FA president calls for 'patience' over Super Eagles loss
Nigeria FA president believes the Super Eagles still have a chance in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, calling on the Nigerians to be patient despite Saturday's loss
Published in Ahram Online on 12 - 10 - 2014

Nigeria Football Association (NFA) boss Amaju Pinnickcalled on the Nigerians to be patient, saying there was no need for any hasty decisions following the team's 1-0 loss to Sudan in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers on Saturday.
The defending champions face an uphill task to reach next year's Morocco finals, as they lie at the bottom of Group A with one point from three games.
"We understand that Nigerians are furious over the fact that the Eagles are last in their group and are in danger of not qualifying for the finals in Morocco," read astatement issued on Sunday in Abuja by the NFA, quoting Pinnick.
"Everyone feels bad about this, including the members of NFA board; I call on Nigerians to have patience.
"This new board is determined to do things differently. We are passionate about the game and what we want to achieve is to build a sustainable football culture for our dear country.
"However, we want our people to be patient and not stampede the NFA to take hasty decisions that will backfire in the end.
"We are on top of the situation and will take decisions that are in the best interest of Nigeria football," the statement added.
Pinnick believes that Nigeria could make up for their defeats and reach the biennial tournament, which they won in 2013 after beating Burkina Faso in the final.
"Our target is to ensure that Nigeria finishes in pole position at major football competitions in Africa and the world.
"We believe this is achievable through hard work, diligence, strategic planning and the support of everyone,” the statement added.
