South Africa coach happy at beating Congo in CAN 2015 qualifiers Ephraim Shakes Mashaba believes his team is making progress towards its tournament target after beating Congo in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers
After beating Congo 2-0 in the third matchday of the 2015 African Cup of Nations qualifiers, South Africa coach Ephraim Shakes Mashaba expressed his pleasure at the victory, saying his team is improving on the path to the tournament finals in Morocco. South Africa are leading Group A with seven points, one point over opponents Congo. "I am happy to have beaten Congo for the second time. The first time I was a stand-in coach. We defeated them one-nil. Today, it was two, and I hope the next time it will be three," Mashaba said. Bafana Bafana defeated Sudan 3-0 in the first matchday of the CAN 2015 qualifiers and were held to 0-0 draw with Nigeria before beating Congo 2-0 on Saturday. "Sudan and Congo are no pushovers, and we lacked a bit of luck to defeat Nigeria. But things are working well," Mashaba added. South Africa is scheduled to host Congo Wednesday in the fourth matchday of the qualifiers at Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane. They have to win the game to ensure qualifying for Morocco 2015. "Should we qualify for Morocco. Then we will test the strength of the squad at the tournament. And once we are done there we look forward to preparing for the 2018 World Cup," the South Africa coach concluded.
