Egypt loses one more spot in FIFA ranking
Egypt slips to 36th place in the FIFA's world ranking for April 2011, while world champions Spain are still the world's best
Published in Ahram Online on 13 - 04 - 2011

Egypt fell another place this month to number 36, an expected consequence of their 1-0 defeat in the African Cup of Nations qualifier against South Africa.
The African Cup of Nations champions kept their third place among African teams, after Ghana (15) and Cote d'Ivoire (21).
After a series of humble results, the Pharaohs continued to fall in the rankings after they had been in the top ten.
Despite the fall, Egypt is still the leading Arab football nation.
Egypt's coach Hassan Shehata had faced losing his post after the last-gasp South Africa defeat that kept his team at the bottom of Group G of the African qualifiers with a single point out of a possible nine, six point behind Bafana Bafana.
Bafana Bafana have moved up seven more places to number 39, their highest position since October 2005.
Ghana, Africa's leading team, moved up one to number 15 after beating Congo in an African Cup of Nations qualifier and drawing with England, currently number six.
Libya jumped 13 places to its best position of 58 after beating Comoros in an African Cup qualifier. The match was played in neutral Mali because Tripoli was deemed too dangerous to host any football matches.
World Cup champions Spain stayed top of the FIFA rankings, with the final's runner-up, the Netherlands, remaining in second.
Brazil climbed two places to third place after it succeeded in overtaking its archrival Argentina, after beating Scotland 2-0 in a friendly.
