Ahly players excited by Africa final, call for crowd attendance Ahly reached their first African Confederation Cup final with a 3-1 aggregate victory over Cameroon's Coton Sport
Ahly striker Emad Meteb has revealed his pleasure at reaching the CAF Confederation Cup final after beating Coton Sport of Cameroon on Sunday. Coton Sport opened the scoring just before the quarter-hour mark when a mix-up between defender Saad Samir and keeper Sherif Ekramy gifted Joseph Kombous an opening goal that leveled the aggregate score. Ahly came from behind to win 2-1 and reach the final for the first time. "We reached the final ... regardless of our performance," Meteb was quoted as saying on the club's official website after the game. "Delaying our matches in the domestic league affected our performance," he added. "I ask fans to wait for more consistent performances when our games are played on scheduled." The Cairo giants face Ivory Coast's Sewe Sport in the final after the latter defeated Congo's AC Leopards 1-0 on aggregate to cap a fairytale run. "The final against Sewe Sport won't be easy as they are an organised team also aiming for the title," Meteb concluded. Red Devils defender Sherif Abdel-Fadil expressed his pleasure at beating Coton Sport but said the Cameroonians' disorganised play affected Ahly. "They were disorganised and that affected our defensive performance near the start of the game," Abdel-Fadil said. "But I am happy for the win and reaching the final," he added. Abdel-Fadil recently returned after a long spell of absence due to injury. Ahly captain asks for fans attendance at final Ahly captain Hossam Ghaly said it is unacceptable for the final to be played behind closed doors as Ahly are representing Egypt and need support in the stands. "I ask for fans attendance at the Confederation Cup final. It's unacceptable for the game to be played behind closed doors," Ghaly told Ahly's official website after the game. Football games in Egypt are currently played behind closed doors for security reasons. Ahly are scheduled to face Ivory Coast's Sewe Sport in the African Confederation Cup final in two legs. The first will be played in Ivory Coast on 29 November, while the second leg on 6 December in Cairo.
