Zamalek coach thanks players for win, rejects comparison with Ahly Zamalek's new coach is grateful for his player's performance during the 6-1 win over Talae El-Geish in the Egyptian Premier League on Sunday
Zamalek coach Hossam Hassan has expressed his pleasure with his team's players for thrashing Talae El-Geish 6-1 in the second matchday of the Egyptian Premier League on Sunday. Zamalek ended their losing streak in style and launched their Egyptian Premier League campaign with a huge 6-1 win over Talae El-Geish. The victory is the first for coach Hossam Hassan in his new stint with the Cairo giants as they lost their last three matches – twice in the African Champions league and again in the Super Cup against rivals Ahly. "I thank the players for their performance in the game against El-Geish," the Zamalek coach told reports after the game. "We worked during the last weeks to create harmony between the newly signed players," he added. "The players needed harmony to win the Egypt Super Cup against Ahly as they are newcomers," he added, Zamalek supported their squad for the new campaign by signing new faces like Khaled Kamar, Moemen Zakaria, Ayman Hefny and Abdoulaye Cisse. "I will allow all players to take part in the team's starting lineups until we reach stability on the squad," Hassan added. Zamalek looked as though they would end a lengthy winless run against Ahly stretching back to 2007 after Ahly wasted their first two spot-kicks following a 0-0 draw but the Red Devils roared back to claim a 5-4 win on penalties and lift the Super Cup trophy for the eighth time. "I ask fans not to compare between Zamalek and Ahly at this time as it's still a long season and fans will decide who is better," Hassan concluded.
