Egypt announce squad for CAN qualifiers camp
Egypt coach Shawky Gharib announces 18-local based players to join the Pharaohs squad for 2015 African Cup of Nations qualifiers
Published in Ahram Online on 24 - 08 - 2014

Egypt coach Shawky Gharib has named 18 players from the Egyptian Premier League to join the Pharaohs squad for the camp to prepare for the 2015 African Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The squad witnessed the appearance of longtime Egypt goalkeeper Essam El-Hadary, who plays for Ismaily, and his teammate Hosni Abd-Rabou.
Head coach Shawky Gharib – who won the CAN three times in a row (2006, 2008 and 2010) as an assistant to coach Hassan Shehata – is bidding for a return to the championship in Morocco, after the team missed the last two editions in 2012 and 2013 under American manager Bob Bradley.
In the 2015 CAN qualifiers, Egypt will play in Group G alongside Tunisia, Senegal and Botswana. They are scheduled to be hosted by the Senegalese team on 5 September in the qualifiers opener.
Last week, Gharib named 11 foreign-based players to join the squad, including Chelsea's Mohamed Salah and Hull City winger Ahmed Elmohamady.
Egypt local players' squad:
Goalkeepers: Essam El-Hadary (Ismaily), Sherif Ekrami (Ahly), Amir Abdel-Hamid (Wadi Degla)
Defenders: Ahmed Saied Oka (Smouha), Shawki El-Saied (Ismaily), Hosni Abd-Rabou (Ismaily), Mohamed Abdel-Shafi (Zamalek), Sabri Rahil (Ahly), Hazem Emam (Zamalek), Omar Gaber (Zamalek), Hossam Ghaly (Ahly)
Midfielders: Ibrahim Abdel-Khaleq (Smouha), Khaled Qamar (Zamalek), Amr Gamal (Ahly), Moamen Zakaria (Zamalek), Mahmoud Trezeguet (Ahly) and Hani El-Egazy (Smouha).
The 11 player list is as follows:
