Waves: Film about Suez, 2011 revolution, to screen at Sarajevo Film Festival: TRAILER
Directed by Egyptian filmmaker Ahmed Nour, Waves will screen at the 20th Sarajevo Film Festival
Published in Ahram Online on 15 - 08 - 2014

This year in its 20th edition, the Sarajevo Film Festival will include nearly 250 films from 60 countries, marking its biggest line-up in the festival's history.
According to Reuters, "The Sarajevo Film Festival has grown into the largest event of its kind in the Balkans and draws around 100,000 fans to the Bosnian capital every year."
'Waves' (Moug), a documentary directed and produced by Ahmed Nour and the only entry from Egypt, will be screened 22 August. The film is the first feature length documentary from the young director.
Waves is Nour's personal reflection on the 2011 Egyptian revolution, decribed through the prism of Suez, Nour's hometown. The film combines animation with archive images and historical footage.
'Waves' was screened during the 17th Ismailiya Film Festival in June 2014, as well as in the competition section of the Dubai Film Festval in 2013.
Other entries to the Sarajevo Film Festival from Arab countries include 'Challat of Tunis,' a Tunisian/French production directed by Kaouther Ben Hania (screening 20 August) and 'My Love Awaits Me by the Sea,' a Palestinian production directed by Mais Darwazah (screening 21 August).
The festival will also include events for Human Rights Day, 18 August, with two film screenings (Return to Homs directed by Talal Derki, and Crime Hunters directed by Juan José Lozano and Nicolas Wadimoff) and a panel discussion.
Return to Homs tracks the evolution of the Syrian uprising from peaceful protest into an entrenched, brutal war that has killed more than 130,000 people. Director Talal Derki was awarded the World Cinema Grand Jury Prize for the film at the prestigious Sundance Film Festival this year.
"I think the festival is entering a new phase in which we want to build a stronger bond between the region and the rest of the world," festival director Mirsad Purivatra commented to Reuters.
The festivalkicked off 15 August and will continue until 23 August.
