Preview: Egypt's Ahly need only draw to reach Confed Cup semis
Ahly could seal passage to the African Confederation Cup semi-final with one match to spare in Group B if they avoid defeat against Zambia's Nkana
Published in Ahram Online on 09 - 08 - 2014

A draw for Ahly away to Zambia's Nkana on Saturday will be enough to lift them to the African Confederation Cup semi final in the penultimate group-stage game as they seek to become the first Egyptian side to win the continent's secondary club competition.
Ahly, who are unbeaten in four Group B games, are favourites to qualify for the last four after winning twice and drawing as many games.
They top the group with eight points, three ahead of second-placed Etoile Sahel of Tunisia and four clear of Nkana, who slumped to a 2-0 loss to Ahly in their opening group-stage encounter.
"The CAF Confederation Cup is very important to us. It is a title which, so far, has not been won by any Egyptian team," Ahly's Spanish coach Juan Carlos Garrido said on his personal website.
"That is our goal, fight to win this competition. We want to give more glory to Ahly and expand their great record with a new title."
Ahly's injury-prone winger Walid Soliman, who converted a penalty to give Ahly a 1-0 win over Ivory Coast's Sewe Sport in their previous mahtch, remains doubtful for the match due to a groin injury.
However, new arrival Mohamed Farouk and youngster Mohamed Sobhi should be available after shrugging off minor injuries.
"I am satisfied with what I'm seeing. The players are professional and they are trying to improve," Garrido added.
"They know that win against Nkana would be a very important step for us. I'm sure the team will go further to achieve what we are looking for."
