A Guest Without A Host Is A Ghost: collective show at Beirut, CIC, and Townhouse
A Guest Without A Host Is A Ghost is a year-long visual arts project that brings 30 artworks from the Kadist Art Foundation (Paris, San Francisco) to Egypt. Described by Beirut as a "temporary guest to the city," this miniature collection will appear in various shows and events across Cairo. An exhibition spread out across three venues – the Contemporary Image Collective (CIC), Townhouse and Beirut – will kick off the project on 6-7 May, featuring works by artists with international acclaim, some of them making their Egyptian debut.
Exhibition opened on 6 May at Beirut and 7 May at the Contemporary Image Collective (CIC) and Townhouse Gallery, and runs until 18 June

Ragheb Ayad artworks at Safarkhan
An exhibition running at Safarkhan Gallery in Zamalek from 5 to 20 June will showcase six rare artworks by one of Egypt's most prominent modern painters, Ragheb Ayad (1892-1982). The artist cultivated a uniquely Egyptian artistic identity across his oeuvre in which he constantly portrayed Egyptian daily life, local folklore and popular culture.

The Surface of Spectral Scattering: Magdi Mostafa at Townhouse Gallery
In The Surface of Spectral Scattering, Magdi Mostafa creates a site-specific, 600 square meter multi-channel sound and light installation at the Townhouse Factory Space. "The installation translates the city of Cairo into a high-energy discharge system with boundaries dictated by a poetic physics of transmission, where human actors play the role of inert conduits charged by abstract, external forces of zeal and fury," according to the curatorial statement.
Exhibition runs until 25 June.

Witnesses: Walid Taher at Gallery Misr
One of the foremost cartoonists in Egypt, Walid Taher exhibits a new collection of paintings and illustrations at Gallery Misr this summer. Since his graduation from the Faculty of Fine Arts in 1992, Taher has illustrated various children's books. His illustrations and cartoons have also appeared in the press.
Exhibition runs until 30 June.

Vaccum Formed: Taha Belal at Gypsum Gallery
Vaccum Formed, Taha Belal's first solo show in Cairo, will feature works spanning the past six years of his career. His projects use recycled printed materials to explore language and representations of reality. "In Vacuum Formed, Belal carries on a formal investigation of language and images exchanged in our daily life," reads the curatorial statement. "He uses mass-produced and disposable printed materials such as newspapers, magazines and wrapping paper to make neat, desirable artworks."

Have A Peaceful Day: Collective Exhibition at Saad Zaghloul Cultural Centre
A collective show featuring works but a group of contemporary and emerging Egyptian artists will run from 22 June to 17 July at the Saad Zaghloul Cultural Centre. The exhibition is organized by Studio Khana Foundation for Contemporary Art and Cultural Development, in collaboration with Studio 15/3 and the Saad Zaghloul Cultural Centre. The participating artists are: Ahmed El-Samra, Eslam Kamal, Bassem Yousri, Tamer Shahin, Rania Fouad, Sama Wali, Soha El-Sergani, Alaa Abd El-Hamid, Mohamed Abdullah, Mohamed Ezzm and Yasmein El-Meleegy.
Exhibition opens on 22 June and runs until 17 July.

Sweet Dreams: Amre Heiba at GIZ
In this exhibition at the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH office in Zamalek, oil paintings emanating from different stages of Amre Heiba's career will be displayed all summer. In this collection, the themes that typically characterise Amre Heiba will reappear, including childhood, solitude and romance.
The exhibition runs until 31 August 2014.

Contemporary Views VI at Al-Masar Gallery
Al-Masar Gallery celebrates its sixth anniversary this year with a selection of work by some of Egypt's most prominent visual artists: Hussein Youssef Amin, Tahia Halim, Mounir Canaan, Samir Rafi, Taha Hussein, Omar El-Nagdy, Gorges Bahgory, Mohammad Sabry and Hazem Taha Hussein. The show will run through the summer.

Il Corpus Homanus II: Collective show at The Art Lounge
Al-Masar Gallery's sister art space, The Art Lounge, will showcase paintings and sculptures by a small group of contemporary artists: Ibrahim El-Dessouki, Sami Aboul Azm, Esam Darwish and Kareem Al Qurity. Complementing the show at Al-Masar, the exhibition will present the current generation of visual artists and runs all summer.
