Health minister heads to Aswan after malaria cases increase to 14
Around 28 people are confirmed or suspected to have malaria in eastern Aswan

Minister of Health Adel Adawy will head to Aswan on Sunday to follow up on measures taken by the governorate's health directorate in dealing with an outbreak of malaria in the southern governorate.
Fourteen cases of the disease have been detected in the area, and fourteen more suspected cases are being kept under supervision.
Eleven cases had been announced on Friday. Amr Qandil, a senior ministry official, said that the infected cases all come from Al-Adwa village near the city of Edfu on the Nile.
Nine health teams have been formed to conduct checkups in the vicinity of Edfu, in the city of Kom Ombo and in Luxor's Esna, the health ministry's representative in Aswan, Mohamed Azmy, announced.
Several ponds have been filled in and insecticides were sprayed to combat further spread of the disease, which is carried by mosquitoes.
Egypt suffered from a malaria epidemic from 1942-1944, when around one million people were infected and 200,000 died.
