CAIRO: 400 Egyptian organization and figures have been funded by Arab, European and American countries, according to an investigation conducted by two judges from the Egyptian Ministry of Justice. A statement by the judge said there are 35,000 licensed working organizations in Egypt, with the investigation revealing only 400 of those receiving foreign investments. Some people have claimed Egyptian law does not criminalize foreign funding, but rather it criminalizes unlicensed organizations. These organizations use the foreign money for illegal objectives, using the money for purposes other than what it was meant for. The judges have listened to 50 witnesses in the investigation, including Islamic and Christian organizations, as well as individuals.
