links: , , Adel Basel, a member of the Free Egyptians party, said that the party supports Article 2 of the Constitution, as it seeks a constitution that deals with the nature of the Egyptian people. Basel said that this situation is not a political maneuver, as the Islamic Sharia would not harm Muslims and Christians. He added that he supports the al-Azhar document, which suggests amending the second article so that non-Muslims can use their own personal status laws. Basel said that he supports a parliamentary & presidential system, adding that he does not oppose the fact that Islamic movements represent the majority of parliament. “I might have different point of view with the Islamists, but I do not question their patriotism,” said Basel. When asked about the chances of an Islamic coalition between the Freedom and Justice party and Salafi al-Nour party, Basel said, "They might have points of agreement and disagreement, but there is no a permanent friend or enemy in politics."
