CAIRO: Dar Al-Iftaa said today that collusion with the greedy during the crisis of butane gas cylinders is a betrayal of trust. The Fatwa said the collusion of the owners of cylinders' stores with the greedy by using the people's need for profit is considered a betrayal of trust. It also said monopoly is forbidden. Dar Al-Ifta said, “To be legitimate, anyone who knows about those people should advise them and if they do not respond, he must inform concerned bodies to take legal action.” The Fatwa, or religious ruling, said this act is considered a forbidden monopoly, where some traders monopolize certain goods until their prices rise so they can profit. It was also mentioned that those who help them are not only enrolled under the betrayal of trust but also under sin, because they steal public money, deprive people of their rights, waste public rights and deprive the needy of their rights. The Fatwa said the butane gas cylinders are essential goods which the country is committed to provide and sell at low prices for citizens, even if their prices rise. It also said the fatwa is not only concerned with food but all essential goods. Dar Al-Iftaa called on the country's institutions to cooperate to find solutions for the crisis of butane gas cylinders. It also called to take legal procedures against anyone trying to deprive the people of life's essentials.
