Tens of demonstrators performed Friday Prayers in front of Egypt's Cabinet, resuming a strike against Kamal el-Ganzouri's new government. They also performed funeral prayers in absentia for the martyrs of recent demonstrations that erupted in Tahrir Square. Sheikh Ahmed Maher of al-Azhar led the prayers. He demanded the ruling Supreme Council of the Armed Forces hand power over to a civil authority. He called for unifying revolutionaries to achieve the objectives of Egypt's revolution. He also stressed the need to prosecute those who were involved in killing or injuring peaceful demonstrators. Maher criticized the Freedom and Justice Party and al-Nour Party, adding that they use religion to gain parliamentary seats. Tens of political powers and movements resumed their strike in front of Egypt's Cabinet, demanding the departure of SCAF and Ganzouri's government in addition to forming a civil presidential council that can lead the country during the current critical period.
