RAMALLAH: The Egyptian government condemns the systematic forced deportation policy that Israel imposes against its residents of Jerusalem, said Egyptian ambassador to Palestine Yasser Othman. Ahmed Atwan, who was recently deported to Ramallah, is the latest victim of such a police. “Egypt calls for global action to stop this policy, which aims to clear Jerusalem of its residents,” Othman said. Ahmed Atwan was abducted two months ago in front of the International Red Cross in the Sheikh Gerah neighborhood, and yesterday arrived in Ramallah after an Israeli court deported him from Jerusalem. Sheikh Mohamed Abo was arrested last year and deported to Ramallah where he was subsequently rearrested on September 6. He remains in jail. Tabo spent more than 30 years in Israeli prisons. After he won a seat in the Palestine Council, the Israeli authorities stripped his citizenship, claiming disloyalty. Some claim that Jerusalem is an occupied city, urging that Israel live up to its obligations under international law, including the prohibition of forced deportation.
