PARIS, France: A ceremony, attended by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, will be held at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris to raise the Palestinian flag on December 13. The Permanent Palestinian Mission to UNESCO announced in a press release on Tuesday the Palestinian flag will be raised amongst the flags of the Member States of the Organization, after gaining full membership acceptance of Palestine to the UN organization. The mission said the celebration will be attended by UNESCO's Director General Koïchiro Matsuura and ambassadors of the Member States of UNESCO. The mission recently announced Palestine's completion of procedures for membership, after Palestinian Foreign Affairs Minister Riyad al-Malki, Palestinian Ambassador to UNESCO Elias Sanbar and Palestinian Ambassador to England Manuel Hassassian presented their UNESCO acceptance document to the British Foreign Office because the United Kindom is in possession of UNESCO's founding charter, which the Palestinian delegation signed.
