CAIRO: Amr Hamzawy, who won the parliament elections, called upon prominent Egyptian businessman Naguib Sawiras to coordinate between civil forces in the upcoming phases of the elections to avoid fragmentation of votes, which could be in favor of Islamic trends. Sawiras said on Cairo Today that Hamzawy split from the Egyptian Bloc after attending 20 meetings with them. He added there are parties who want to ally with the Egyptian Bloc after seeing their success in the first phase of the parliamentary elections. Hamzawy said he wasn't in need for the Bloc's support and he was successful, while the Egyptian Bloc candidate only got 6,000 votes. Hamzawy pointed out he agrees with Free Egyptians Party's program and the Egyptian Bloc but he doesn't want their help. He called for putting a maximum limit to donations for any political party. He added businessmen shouldn't monopolize the parties by funding them. “Egypt can't allow an example of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Al-Hariry to be produced in Egypt,” he added. In other news, Sawiras said he will coordinate with liberal parties with weight. He pointed out the Bloc withdrew their candidate from Dokki, Giza to leave it for Amr al-Shobaky because they believe in his honesty. Hamzawy said in his experience, the elections were magnificent and the best was the influx of Egyptians, even in low class regions and the countryside. He pointed out the experience was honest despite of the attempts to use religious slogans against his name.
