CAIRO: Pro-military council protest in Abbasseya district started their demonstration after the Friday prayers by singing the Egyptian national anthem, asking Allah for mercy upon Egypt. They chanted, "The peoples and the army, one hand," and "Egypt is above all." There was a march from al-Nour Mosque to Abbasseya to join the protesters. Some revolutionary Tahrir protestors broke out and support the armed forces, which protected the Egyptians' blood, said head of the Fatwa (Islamic Law) Committee in Al-Azhar, Said Amer. He added there are people aiming to distort Egypt's image after the Egyptian January 25 Revolution for their personal interests. There are disputes between the protesters, pedestrians and car drivers about the crippling traffic movement inside Abbasseya Square. Security forces intervened to ease the tension. The protesters rejected the international demands for Egypt's ruling military council to hand over authority to an elected civilian authority. They also allocated a place in the square to help those with children. Arabic here Arabic here Arabic here
