CAIRO: Chairman of Al-Wafd Party Al-Sayed Al-Badawi makes statement about Al-Wafd Party's progress in the current parliamentary elections in Egypt. He said the church promised him to have the Coptic Christians' vote during the parliamentary elections in case Al-Wafd Party withdrew from the Democratic Alliance. Al-Wafd withdrew but the Coptic Church urged Coptic Church to vote for certain lists not including Al-Wafd Party, according to al-Badawi. Al-Badawi assured, during a meeting with the second and third stage candidates of Al-Wafd Party, seven independent candidates who succeeded during the first stage of the elections will join Al-Wafd Party. Al-Wafd Party won 13 seats during the first stage of the elections and there is a seat undergoing runoffs in Kafr al-Sheikh, al-Badawi said. He said the party is guaranteed many seats during the third stage of the elections, since the first stage of the elections proved the conferences are worthless and it is more infective to hold campaigns among the voters. Regarding the second and the third stages, al-Badawi said the party allocated 18 employers to follow up on the rest of the 18 Egyptian governorates during the upcoming stages. The party will change the arrangement of candidates of lists in case they do not carry out their duties.
