WASHINGTON: The White House gave a statement Monday saying that the Egyptian parliamentary elections process is long and it is working well, and Washington welcomes this development. "Barack Obama is concerned only with the genuine shift to democracy in Egypt,” said the official spokesperson of the White House, Jay Carney, when asked if the American administration has any concerns regarding the Islamists taking power in Egypt. Carney said that the White House asks any party that comes to power through democratic elections to respect human and minority rights and avoid violence. He also said that it is not fair to think that any political power with Islamic ground does not believe in democracy. "We should not judge any political power or parliament before checking their employed policies,” he said “We should continue our support until the results are revealed."
