The process of counting the votes of Egyptian expatriates began at 7:00am on Monday morning, according to Hani Mahmoud, the head of the coordinating committee for elections. Mahmoud told Youm7 that the counting process will take place at Egyptian embassies across the world. There are no indications of the results yet, said Mahmoud, adding that there may be an initial count by the end of the day. On Saturday, Nov. 26, the Egyptian Embassy in Washington announced that it received more than 2,700 voting envelopes from expatriate Egyptians who live in United States for parliamentary elections, which begin today in Egypt. The voting envelopes were received through the United States Postal Service (USPS) and FedEx. The embassy had assured its doors would be opened for all members of Egyptian communities to submit their voting envelopes on Sunday, Nov. 27 until midnight. For the re-voting round of the first phase, the Supreme Electoral Committee will provide voting cards starting from midnight on November 30. Monday, December 5 will be the last date to expats' ballots for the run-off elections to be received. Ballots will be counted on December 6. Run-off elections will only be for individual seats and not for the seats determined by party lists. Arabic here
