CAIRO: A state of calm descended on Tahrir Square this morning as only hundreds of demonstrators remained in tents in the central garden, many of whom roused and ate breakfast with their fellow protestors around the margins of the Square. The Peoples' Committees remained in the Square and protected the entrances and exits and checked identification cards. The organizing committee beefed up its presence on Mohamed Mahmoud Street to prevent any further clashes between demonstrators and police forces. Some demonstrators instead flocked to Qasr al-Eini Street. About ten cars from the Public Authority for Cleaning in West Cairo came to clean and collect trash from the last six days of often-violent protests, mainly on Mohamed Mahmoud Street. Other demonstrators continued their protest in front of the Egyptian Cabinet, calling on the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces to transfer power and cancel the appointment of Kamal el-Ganzouri as prime minister.
