CAIRO: In response to the reappointment of former Prime Minister Kamal el-Ganzouri as PM of the National Salvation Council, the Revolution Youth Coalition and National Association for Change rejected the decision on grounds of el-Ganzouri's age and his past position in ousted president Hosni Mubarak's government. The movements said their rejection was purely due to his age and not his personality. The association highlighted the importance of providing powers and executive authorities suitable to the new premier in order to avoid a repeat of the previous government's failures. The association proposed names to assume posts in the new government, including Mohamed el-Baradei as Prime Minister with Abdel Moneim Aboul Fotouh and Hossam Eissa as his deputies. The coalition said el-Ganzouri spent around 20 years with Mubarak's regime which means he is a partner in the corruption. Over the past five days, the coalition held meetings and consultations with other political powers to nominate names for the new government. The nominees included el-Baradei, Aboul Fotouh and Hamdeen Sabbahi who would be provided full political powers to run Egypt's affairs. The coalition also called for the military's return to its barracks. A young demonstrator in the square distributed leaflets calling on protesters to end their sit-in; the protesters believed he was a supporter of the former NDP.
