Hamdy Fakharany of the ongoing Madinaty case announced a new initiative for a truce between the demonstrators in Tahrir Square and the Ministry of Interior. Former Chairman of the Judges Club Zakaria Abdul Aziz, Imam of the Osman ibn Affan mosque Sheikh Yousri Jabr and 50 Al-Azhar clerics will act as intermediaries. Fakhrany and Abdul Aziz contacted officials in the Ministry of Interior and military leaders of Egypt's ruling military council to begin discussing the truce. Fakhrany told Youm7 in a statement the military suggested concrete blocks be placed in Mohamed Mahmoud St. to separate the demonstrators from the Ministry of Interior. A truce was concluded between demonstrators and security forces in Mohamed Mahmoud St. on Wednesday November 23 after the endeavors of the imams of Al-Azhar. But security forces on the street fired several rounds of tear gas onto the demonstrators, leading to renewed clashes again. Egyptian author Nour Hoda Zaki announced the launch of a women's march today November 24, starting from Omar Makram mosque towards Tahrir Square and Mohamed Mahmoud St. for women to form a human shield to prevent clashes that lasted for 6 consecutive days.
