The national committees intensified their existence at entrances and exits of Tahrir Square, in case of any attacks from security forces, especially after the decrease of numbers of demonstrators in the square. The Mohamed Mahmoud St. leading to the Ministry of Interior witnessed clashes between the Central Security Forces (CSF) and demonstrators, when the CSF threw teargas on demonstrators. It is worth mentioning, presidential candidate Hazim Abu Ismail was able to convince the demonstrators outside Omar Makram mosque to release the captured central security officer inside the mosque and to transfer him to hospital. The captured officer was exposed to beatings by the protesters; his health condition was severe and needed to be transferred to a hospital. Abu Ismail told demonstrators, “This officer should receive his right in treatment even if he is a non-believer.”
