CAIRO: The Egyptian Ministry of the Interior tonight formed an emergency committee tasked with the investigation of clashes between demonstrators and Central Security Forces. The Minister of the Interior and two assistants for the public security sector in Central Security and Cairo Security will sit on the committee. The purpose of the committee is to determine the cause of the violence and identify those responsible, if any. “Police forces still have control over what is happening in Tahrir Square despite the repeated attacks on police vehicles,” a security source reported. “Although the security forces believe in the peaceful expression of opinion, they will never give up their duty of protecting public and private property from sabotage,” the source added.
