CAIRO: The Egyptian Press Syndicate today strongly criticizes the security forces' violent crackdown on journalists and photographers covering the clashes in Tahrir Square. “The Syndicate's members have a right to disseminate facts to the public without impediment,” a statement read. “We demand that the authorities help them do their job.” The Syndicate also expressed solidarity with those injured and detained and demanded that the Interior Ministry immediately release those imprisoned. “The Syndicate will take all legal measures to prosecute those who ordered the use of violence against journalists performing their jobs,” the statement added.
