Al-Azhar teachers close Asyut road, demand equitable pay

ASYUT, Egypt: Hundreds of teachers from the Al-Azhar Institute today blocked the Gohorya Road in Asyut City to protest against the inequalities amongst Al-Azhar educators and those associated with the Egyptian Ministry of Education.
The protestors are also demanding an incentive mechanism, as promised in a recent Egyptian Cabinet statement, as well as the establishment of an independent Syndicate for Al-Azhar teachers.
