CAIRO: Egyptian Prime Minister Essam Sharaf and Deputy Prime Minister for Political Development and Democratization Ali el-Selmy will continue negotiations on Saturday with Egyptian political powers regarding the constitutional principles document drafted Selmy. Islamist movements went Tahrir Square for the Friday Demonstration to call for the handover of power to a civilian authority, and to cancel Articles 9 and 10 of the document. The articles concern a privileged position for the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces concerning legislation and the military budget, a source told Youm7. He added these principles were not approved during a meeting between Sharaf, head of Freedom and Justice Party Mohamed Morsi, and Legislative Authority head Mohmmad Abdel Maksoud, who represents the Salafis. The second point of disagreement between Islamic powers was over standards for choosing members of the Constituent Assembly that will draft the new constitution, the source added. Other political powers agreed on the document after the approval of amendments on controversial items. The standards of choosing the constitutional assembly members would be discussed during Sharaf's meeting, the source said.
