CAIRO: The Gamaa al-Islamiyya (Islamic Group) officially announced that it plans to participate in tomorrow's ‘Friday to Protect Democracy' demonstrations. The group will express its opinion of the constitutional principles document proposed by Deputy Prime Minister Ali al-Selmy and political forces' rejection of the document's amendment. The group will also call on Egypt's ruling military council to hand over power to a civilian authority no later than April 2012. Group spokesman Assem Abdel Maged told Youm7 the group will participate in Friday's million-man demonstration. Abdel Maged said the reason for the group's participation is to force the concerned authorities, either the military council or the government, to respond to the demands. He said Friday's million-man demonstration will be a complement to Egypt's January 25 Revolution.
