Egyptian Minister of Interior Mansour al-Essawi had a meeting with security directors of Cairo, Port Said, Red Sea, Kafr el-Sheikh, Asyut, Alexandria, Luxor, Damietta and Fayoum to discuss the plan of securing the upcoming parliamentary elections. Al-Essawi revised the first phase of the plan to be applied in nine governorates. They also revised the security procedures of electoral committees and headquarters in different governorates in coordination with the armed forces. They decided to increase police forces to prevent any unexpected violent events. The ministry assured its role is to secure electoral committees without interfering its activities or procedures. Police forces must also apply democratic, neutral and equal principals for all voters. Al-Essawi confirmed the Ministry of Interior holds a neutral, equal position with all political forces and trends under the law and general principals of freedom. He also assured any attempt to break the law, legitimacy or any inciting of violence that cause confusion will be confronting with decisiveness and firmness under mastery of law.
